Academic Counseling and Support

At UCLA, we know how important academic success is for students and their futures. Undergraduate students can access support and resources from a variety of academic counseling services to help with academic planning and more. These programs include:

Center for Academic Advising in the College

The Center for Academic Advising in the College (CAAC) provides academic counseling across students enrolled in programming within the College of Letters and Sciences. College academic counseling aims to provide resources and an active partnership with students to help them navigate academics at UCLA. Services include:

    • College academic counseling
    • Virtual academic counseling
    • Help navigating degree requirements, planning your degree, or transferring credit
    • Pre-Med and Pre-Health planning
    • Assistance filing academic petitions
    • Degree planning

Honors Counseling

Honors Programs academic counseling is available to students enrolled in one of UCLA’s Honors Programs. To schedule a same-day virtual appointment, email honors.appointments@college.ucla.edu between the hours of 8:30am-3:59pm with your college honors status, student UID, phone number, availability for a 30-minute call during the day and a brief description of what you’d like to discuss with the counseling staff.

Academic Advancement Program (AAP) Resources

AAP Counseling

AAP Students can access in-person or virtual counseling. Drop-in hours are Monday-Friday from 10 am-3pm. To schedule a virtual appointment, send a Message center request in MyUCLA (MyUCLA>Ask A Question>AAP Counseling).

Peer Learning

Peer Learning is open to any student within AAP interested in strengthening their academic skills. Peer learning sessions typically take place in small groups where students can work collaboratively through topics in Math, Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Graduate and Professional School (GPS) Exploration Services

With an emphasis on social justice, equity, and representation, GPS Exploration Services helps AAP students develop their interests, life experiences, and career competencies as they explore their post-baccalaureate goals.

Freshman and Transfer Summer Program (FTSP) 

AAP offers two academic summer programs for incoming students – the Freshman Summer Program and the Transfer Summer Program. These programs are designed to prepare students to succeed by exposing them to the rigor and demands of academic life and to undergraduate programs, services, and learning resources.
